A group calling it’s self coalition of Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam youth is accusing the National Identification Authority (NIA) of denying nearly 70% of the citizens in the Area , their identity in the EOWAS card registration.
The group’s leader Egya Yaw Edua Akini made it known to Jet Media’s Siisi Bentil that, the NIA and Ghana Post could not registering nearly 70% of the houses in Ajumako–Kokoben.
He quizzed why the NIA and Ghana Post did not register those houses. He talso lamented the registration officials of Ghana Post demanded some money before registration. He added that an old lady paid Gh 50 before here house was registered. The 80–year–old Madam Ekua Praa has confirmed the allegation to Jet Media, saying “they asked me to pay Gh50 so that they would fix a plate containing the digital address on my wall but they didn’t”.
A man (name withheld) said he paid the same amount for the same reason but had his Digital Address written on the wall.
Egya Yaw Edua could not understand the NIA packed the machines to the neighboring Town while registration in Ajumako – Kokoben had not been completed. He said NIA’s decision to pack the registration materials on grounds of bribery allegation leveled against their registration officials is unfortunate. Why won’t people accuse the officials of bribery, because of the way and manner the registration exercise was conducted. We slept at the registration centre overnight with our documents awaiting registration but others came late and got registered”,he said.
He called on the NIA to stop blaming their action on the bribery allegation and give better explanation to the community.
