An Accra High Court has granted bail to four persons standing trial over the kidnapping of two Canadian women.

The bail is to the tune of ¢200,000 each with two sureties, one to be justified.

They are also to report at the Kumasi Central police station every Monday.

The four granted bail are Abdul Nasir, Seidu Abubakari aka Mba, Safianu Abubakari, Abdul Rahman Suleiman aka Worfa.

Their lawyers argued that they will show up for court whenever they are needed and that they remain innocent until proven guilty.

State prosecutors did not oppose the application for bail except to ask for “appropriate conditions” to be set.

Justice George Buadi granted the request while directing that the remaining four persons standing trial be kept at the BNI headquarters.

The hearing continues on August 12.
