5000 Farmers are currently receiving improved seeds and fertilizers under the planting for food and jobs program in the Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam District in the Central Region.
District Chief Executive – – Ransford Kwesi Nyarko announced at the 35th Farmers day held at Ajumako Babinso last Friday.He said the Assembly had enhanced small-scale Agriculture by providing over 50000 free cocoa seedlings to over 1150 Farmers in the District to boost cocoa production under the planting for export and rural development (PERD) program.”plan to establish a viable and sustainable factory at Enyan Abaasa in the district is still under way.
The challenge however is the land tenure system within the District which has literally stalled the plans of Unnee Fruits Limited” he said.Hon Kwesi Nyarko was optimistic of government commitment to the One District One Factory agenda. He said his outfit has also constructed CHPs Compounds and Classrooms aside the reshaping of feeder roads to address the needs of small-scale Farmers in the district.
The DCE also announced the decentralization of the scholarship Secretariat to the district level to benefit all students through their post secondary education.
